Generazione Critica #6

The sixth edition of Generazione Critica will be held in Modena on November 30, 2018, at Laboratorio Aperto – Ex Centrale AEM Modena, from 3.00 to 8.00 pm.

Generazione Critica #6 reflects on the role of technology and digital in contemporary artistic production, trying to probe and deepen, through the tool of criticism, the most recent scenarios and languages. Speakers: Bruno Barsanti (independent curator, The Others coordinator, Turin), Cesare Biasini Selvaggi (editorial director Exibart), Gemma Fantacci (ATPdiary contributor), Kamilia Kard (artist and teacher), Gli Impresari (artistic collective), Elisabetta Modena (curator) independent) and Santa Nastro (editor-in-chief Artibune). At the end of the day, a concluding round table moderated by Vittorio Iervese (University of Modena and Reggio Emilia), will be the occasion for a moment of discussion and debate open to the public.

On the occasion of the conference, at 7.00 pm, the exhibition “Ti Fidi di me?” will be inaugurated, as result of the workshop carried out with the students of the Advanced Training Master on contemporary imgery, during the last edition of Generazione Critica. The exhibition project, curated by Isabella Nardon, Vanessa Pinzoni and Federica Porro, investigates the consequences of technological developments on the mechanism of the gaze, which has become a total act of trust on the part of man towards the machine.

Furthermore, from Friday 30 November until 8 December 2018, a series of video works will be visible within the space, selected among the works of the participants in the Artifact Prize and the open-call of Digital Video Wall, two projects promoted by Metronom within the Mapping the Studio review. Created to support the production and use of contemporary art, Artifact is a project that includes an exhibition, a prize and the publication of a volume; Digital Video Wall is a call for project dedicated entirely to experimenting with digital creative practices.
The artists: Boris Contarin, Marilisa Cosello, Valentina D’Accardi, Federica of Pietrantonio, Andrea Fenoglio, IOCOSE, Kamilia Kard, Alice Palamenghi, Eleonora Roaro.

Generazione Critica is an initiative promoted by Metronom, part of the annual Mapping the Studio, which takes place under the patronage of the Municipality of Modena and the collaboration of FONDAZIONE MODENA ARTI VISIVE – Fondazione Fotografia.
