BOOKSHOCK | BIG – BIENNALE INTERNAZIONALE GRAFICA, MILAN

The exhibition project BOOKSHOCK is part of the programme of the 2026 International Graphic Design Biennial in Milan, continuing the research developed by Oggetto libro, which brings together two increasingly complementary fields: design and art.

Hosted at ADI Design Museum in Milan and curated by Susanna Vallebona, BOOKSHOCK explores the multifaceted and ever-evolving nature of the book, which takes on unexpected forms through artists’ books conceived as artworks in their own right. Here, the book becomes a hybrid between object and sculpture, design and cultural transmission: an object to be viewed and explored, in which the conceptual dimension converges with the tangible presence of material. Alongside printed artefacts and physical copies, the exhibition also features immaterial books generated by artificial intelligence, which have the power both to surprise and to redefine the very concept of the book.
The exhibition serves as a space for discussion and critical reflection, where the book—in all its forms—provides a means of examining and questioning contemporary cultural production and the media through which it is disseminated.

Date: from October 22 to November 8, 2026
