Canicula is the final chapter of the Trilogia delle Incertezze, a series of exhibitions conceived by Fondazione In Between Art Film that transform the Complesso dell’Ospedaletto into a space that raises questions and invites reflection on how we interpret the reality we experience and observe.
Each chapter draws on a different atmospheric phenomenon, transformed into a metaphor for human existence: ambiguity and uncertainty, evoked by twilight, in Penumbra; disorientation and a sense of being lost, associated with fog, in Nebula; and a sense of oppression, expressed through blinding light and suffocating heat, in Canicula.
Curated by Alessandro Rabottini and Leonardo Bigazzi, the exhibition presents eight site-specific video installations that reflect on a time saturated with stimuli, excess, and visual, perceptual, and cognitive distortions. The video installations place the viewer before reality, prompting them to question themes such as control, information, the nature of the images that surround us, science, war, and the manipulation of memory, power, and truth.
