FORT BIENNALE 2026 | FORTE DI FORTEZZA, BOZEN

Fort Biennale returns for its second edition, the contemporary art exhibition hosted within the striking Forte di Fortezza (Franzensfeste Fortress, Bolzano) and curated by Hannes Egger, Andrea Lerda, and Veronika Vascotto. The exhibition transforms the fortress’s monumental spaces into a site of dialogue between history and contemporary art, where the artworks engage with both the architecture and the memory of the place.
The project stems from a reflection on the crises, conflicts, and profound transformations that define our present, exploring the possibility of building new forms of coexistence and shared responsibility from a global perspective. In this context, art becomes a tool for imagining alternative futures. Works by Italian and international artists are presented across four thematic sections—Think, Play, Dance, and Act—inviting visitors to explore different ways of thinking, living, and responding to the challenges of our time.
Among the featured installations is Speaking in All Languages by Micaela Pinero, a work conceived as a space for contemplation and reflection. Upon entering the installation, visitors are encouraged to slow down, leaving behind the relentless pace of everyday life and immersing themselves in a suspended environment populated by nature-inspired imagery, soft human silhouettes, words, and messages that evoke care, attentive listening, and awareness. The installation unfolds as a welcoming, meditative space in which visual language becomes an invitation to reflect on the possibility of cultivating more empathetic and mindful relationships—with ourselves, with others, and with the world around us.

Dates: from June 13 to November 8, 2026
