Frammenti (Fragments) is the title of Francesco Paterlini’s solo exhibition, curated by Flora Berizzi and Michele Tavola and hosted at the National Archaeological Museum of Sirmione. At the heart of the exhibition is the dialogue between the contemporary artworks and the site that houses them.
Paterlini creates sculptures in stone and terracotta, as well as installations that explore the themes of the fragment and the remnant, blending seamlessly into the archaeological and anthropological context. The works emerge as contemporary artefacts, engaging in a dialogue with the objects in the museum’s permanent collection—testimonies to the past. In this encounter, antiquity and contemporaneity are placed on the same cultural plane, united by a continuous cycle of transformation in which abandonment, decay, ruin, and renewal become successive stages in the shared story of matter and time.
