KIPRAS DUBAUSKAS. PYROGENIA. CROWD AND DEMONS | MAMbo, BOLOGNA

The Project Room of MAMbo – Museum of Modern Art of Bologna – is hosting the exhibition Kipras Dubauskas. Pyrogenia. Crowd and Demons, curated by Elisa Del Prete and Andrea Pastore, through January 11, 2026. The show, the Lithuanian artist’s first solo exhibition in an Italian museum institution, takes shape as an installation built around the short film FireStarter, developed during an artist residency in Bologna.
Shot between Italy and Lithuania, the film explores the theme of rescue within contemporary society. The overall project unfolds as a trilogy: following earth and water, the central elements of the first two chapters, this third episode focuses on fire, adopted as a metaphor for human crisis and potential escape routes.
The installation includes, among other components, small structures, makeshift furnishings, a fire engine set ablaze, as well as sculptures, drawings, and collages that contribute to defining and amplifying the conceptual core of the exhibition.
