Today marks the opening of the fourth edition of the Biennale Internazionale della Fotografia Femminile in Mantua, under the direction of Alessia Locatelli. The initiative was created to provide space and visibility for women photographers working within the international contemporary photography scene, whose works address significant social and political issues, including inequality and education.
The title chosen for this edition, Liminal, evokes the idea of threshold spaces—suspended and evolving dimensions in which rules and identities are continuously redefined. These are often transitional territories, yet precisely for this reason they are capable of opening up new horizons and creating possibilities for change.
The programme includes exhibitions, workshops, and conferences hosted in some of the main cultural and artistic venues across the city of Mantua.
Dates: March, from 6 to 29, 2026
