The Marca Corona Gallery in Sassuolo presents Materia Comune, an exhibition by Marinella Senatore curated by Mariacristina Ferraioli, which brings the artist’s research into dialogue with the region’s ceramic tradition and the people who inhabit it. The project stems from an encounter between artistic practices and shared knowledge, placing listening, memory and human relationships at the heart of a collective process.
As the artist explains, “Materia Comune emerges from this process: it does not represent the community from the outside, but takes shape through its voices and the time shared.” At the heart of the exhibition is a monumental, newly created ceramic panel developed through a series of workshops devoted to reading, creative writing and somatic movement, involving employees of Ceramiche Marca Corona. The work thus takes shape as a collective portrait, in which individual stories, memories and gestures converge into a shared form.
The exhibition brings this new work into dialogue with other works by Marinella Senatore, broadening the interpretation of the project and highlighting its connection to the context and community from which it emerged.
