Mimmo Rotella 1945–2005, held at Palazzo Ducale in Genoa and curated by Alberto Fiz, traces the sixty-year career of the artist through a selection of works from museums, foundations, and public and private collections. The exhibition highlights Rotella’s remarkable ability to experiment with a wide range of artistic techniques and visual languages, from figurative drawings and geometric paintings to the décollage that became the hallmark of his practice, as well as graffiti-inspired works and Pop Art.
Organized into thematic sections, the exhibition follows the major stages of Rotella’s artistic development. The display is enriched by documentary materials—including photographs, newspaper and magazine articles, and poems—that provide further insight into the artist’s creative process and career.
The exhibition is accompanied by a scholarly catalogue published by Magonza, featuring essays by Alberto Fiz, Ilaria Bonacossa, and Valérie da Costa.
