NINO MIGLIORI. LA DIALETTICA DEL REALE | CENTRO SAIN-BÉNIN, AOSTA

On the occasion of Nino Migliori’s centenary, a retrospective at the Centro Saint-Bénin in Aosta brings together 160 images to explore the artist’s extensive body of work.

Nino Migliori. La dialettica del Reale, curated by Mauro Zanchi, presents some of the most iconic series produced by the artist in the 1950s, tracing their evolution through to the present day. His photography has borne witness to the profound contradictions of post-war Italy, developing a visual grammar capable of transforming reportage — what is seen — into an investigation of existence — what it means.
The exhibition unfolds across four sections that trace Migliori’s gaze over time: Emilia, Gente del Sud, Gente del Delta and Gente del Nord. Each section reveals the artist’s sensitivity in his approach to what he portrays, as his photography is not simply documentation, but narration. At the heart of the images is humanity in all its complexity, expressed through everyday rituals, emotions and urban gestures.
The exhibition also highlights Migliori’s increasingly autonomous exploration of the photographic language over the course of his career, which he has developed through both urban and landscape photography.
