The exhibition Spiral Economy: Charrière and Canova, held at the Museo Correr in Venezia, spans different eras and artistic languages, creating a dialogue across centuries. The project is part of the Dialoghi Canoviani series, which explores the relationship between the artistic legacy of Antonio Canova and contemporary artistic practices.
Alongside Canova, the exhibition features Franco-Swiss artist Julian Charrière, whose works establish a direct dialogue with Canova’s sculptures, focusing particularly on marble: a material that symbolized the Neoclassical tradition and that is now reinterpreted through a contemporary sensibility.
Curated by Chiara Squarcina and Pier Paolo Pancotto, the exhibition employs photography, video, and installation to reinterpret and question the ideals and aesthetic canons of the Neoclassical master.
